Lake City Summer Festival (formerly Pioneer Days)

Date:                Saturday, August 7

Time:                9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Location:           North Seattle Family Center, 3200 NE 125th Street, Ste. #2

Cost:                 Free

 

Be sure to stop by our booth near 125th and Lake City Way. Face painting, tattoos and button making. If you’d like to volunteer, call Derek at 364-7930.  (We can train you on these crafts.)

 

 

Teen Parent Group

Date:                Every Thursday

Time:                4 – 6 p.m.

Cost:                 Free

 

For pregnant and parenting young moms and dads under 21 years old. Come join our new Teen Parent Group. Meet other young parents who have similar issues and concerns in a safe supportive and non-judgmental setting. Group time includes sharing ideas and concerns with peers, discussion about a parenting topic, and a craft or parent/child activity. Positive parenting support and friendship!  Light dinner provided.

 

 

Drawing for Kids

This is a fun class where children ages 7-14 will learn basic beginning drawing skills and explore various drawing techniques from the artist who created the “Animal Kingdom” mural in the childcare room.

 

 

Kids Cooking Nutrition Class

Children age 8 – 12 will learn about cooking and nutrition and enjoy cooking with some healthy easy recipes.  Also covered will be topics such as washing hands and foods, reading food labels, the importance of breakfast and much more. 

 

 

End of Summer Bar-Be-Cue

Origami Workshop

For kids and parents.  Ever wished you knew how to make those beautiful paper cranes? Come learn the wonderful art of oriental paper folding. Paper and materials will be provided.

 

 

Art Clinic – Pottery & Sculpting

Date:                Sunday, August 15, 2004

Children will make a pottery piece during the clinic and the finished product will be taken to a local art studio to fire ceramic pieces in the kiln then returned to the young artist. Pottery clay provided by Seattle Pottery Supply and demonstrated by Paul and Laura Souyoultzis, art students and creators of original Pottery and Sculpture. Everyone is welcome.

Art Clinic series held once a month.  Workshops fall on Sunday’s at 1 p.m. Hosted by various professional artists. Painting, Music, Clay Pottery & Ceramics, Beading and more!!!

 

Fun with Yarn

Jewelry By Dulce

Make a beautiful bead bracelet using triangle beads.  All ages, although kids under 9 years old may need help from a parent. Materials provided, registration required.

 

 

Golden Gardens Beach Trip

Fishing Trip to Greenlake

For kids under 14 years of age. Learn with the pros about the exciting sport of fishing; catch a fish or two. Meet us by the paddle boat area located near the main entrance.  Rods and bait provided. Pre-registration required. A parent or guardian must accompany children at all times.  Limited to 18 kids.

 

 

Make and Take Greeting Cards

Cuando uno es nuevo en un lugar, es facil sentirse desorientado y confundido!  Padres de familia como tu, se reunen en el Centro Familiar para desarrollar una red de soporte y apollo mutuo.  Los objetivos entre otros son de facilitar el intercambio de informacion sobre los recursos en el area, de motivar a los padres a involucrarse mas en la educacion de sus hijos y obtener amistades en la communidad.

 

A place where Latino parents can meet and share parenting ideas, Information and referral on community resources with other Latino parents and other empowering topics.
