Ravenna Creek Daylighting in Ravenna Park

Project Description:
The project will daylight 400-600' of Ravenna Creek in
Ravenna Park. The creek now drops into a sewer north of the
Ravenna ballfield. King County will be building a pipe to
carry the creek to a city storm drain, which connects to
Union Bay (Lake Washington). As an alternative to King
County building a pipe through the park, we will restore
the creek to the surface within the park. The creek will
be connected to the new pipeline near NE 55th street.

Parks will work closely with citizens and King County to
design a route that accommodates current athletic field
uses. Artwork will be created to mark a symbolic connection
between the Park and Union Bay. Construction is scheduled
for summer 2003.

What is Happening Now:
Field work will begin in late January 2002. Soil samples
will be taken, wetlands around the creek will be located,
and a survey crew will be on site to locate existing park
features. Information gathered will be used to guide the
design.

We want your input:
Please join us in three community workshops to create a
vision and to develop design concepts for the project.
