03/12/02 Yesterday we had another meeting of the RHS Design Team. We began with a review of our mission by Chuck Chinn. Then a few of us presented a brief summary of the articles we had read for our homework. Hopefully we will be able to hear from more team members on the articles that they read at our next meeting. Marilyn Brockman of Bassetti Architects then passed out a compilation of the comments generated at our last meeting on the themes of Personalizing Environment, Program Adaptability, and Safety. Then we divided into four groups where we were to brainstorm design elements that would relate to the themes of Learner-Centered Environment, Community Connections, Collaborations, and Aesthetics. The ideas that were generated will again be compiled by the architects for use in their schematic design. Again, the architects were present at this meeting and participated in the process. Our next meeting on March 25 will be on excerise in a "Day in the Life" of a student, a teacher, a parent, and a community member in the future. Should generate some interesting comments. We will also be touring Edmonds/Woodway High School and Everett High School on March 21, a day long "field trip". In the future we will be touring West Seattle High School. Bridget Savage, daughter of Laurie Medill on our executive committee, is now a member of the RHS Design Team. Congradulations Bridget! Andrea Wilson
