Roosevelt HS Students Traveling to Cape Town

Students and teachers at Roosevelt High School in Seattle will be traveling to Cape Town, South Africa to create a dialogue of peace. Hands for a Bridge, a collaboration between Roosevelt High School, the University of Washington’s Jackson School and the Intiman Theatre, is sponsoring the program.

The program is intended to create a dialogue across the cultures through shared artistic expressions. The program plans to use the resulting experiences to facilitate peace and artistic appreciation within our own communities and schools. Initially, the program is expected to offer experiences in drama, writing, photography and film. The Intiman Theatre has graciously agreed to work with the students in creating ways to use drama as a bridge between cultures. Since students will also be creating art and reports through their writings, a language arts credit will be offered. The Jackson School at the University of Washington is providing support for the students in this area.

Donations to assist the students with their travel costs may be sent to Roosevelt High School, c/o Hands for a Bridge, 1410 NE 66th Street, Seattle, WA 98115.
